January Publishing Update

Happy New Year!!!!!

I can’t believe 2020 is the year I become a PUBLISHED AUTHOR!!!! I am SO EXCITED!!! (Can you tell???)

I had a very nice Christmas and New Year and actually managed to relax amidst writing deadlines, cover reveals, and regular emails with my publisher, but with all the festivity behind me, it’s time to focus on a new year and new goals.

First, a bit of bad news: due to some unfortunate events behind the scenes, my publisher and I have decided to push the launch date for THE RESCUER back a month. Instead of debuting on January 17, THE RESCUER will now be available starting February 21. I should have more details regarding the actual launch in February’s newsletter, but you can still pre-order the book here. I am so sorry about this delay. It’s disappointing when things don’t go the way you originally plan, but I am happy with the decisions we’ve made and with how the book it turning out. This extra time is definitely going to be worth it, and I can admit I am a teensy bit grateful to have a few more weeks to complete my author homework.

With that important announcement complete, let me give you a preview of my 2020.

In January, I will be sending out endorsement request letters to some of my favorite authors asking them to review my book! This is an exciting and intimidating endeavor. There’s something nerve-wracking about putting your book baby out this way, but I’m positive I’ll get some traction and hopefully garner a few endorsements before the book comes out.

I’ll be writing a few guest posts to be featured by INtense Publications. I also have a few author interviews coming up on different blogs. Keep an eye on my Facebook and Twitter pages for links to those once they air.I’ll be planning my launch party—still taking place at Hillcrest Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas, just on Feb 21 instead of in January. It’s a Friday night from 6-9 and there will be time for meet-and-greet with the author, a reading of an excerpt from my book, and of course an opportunity to get THE RESCUER hot off the presses and get your copy signed. And there will be cake, of course. Everybody loves cake.In addition to releasing my first book, my New Years Resolution is to draft, edit, and polish the sequel to THE RESCUER. If I can stay true to my goal, book 2 of the Krador Kronicles THE HEALER will be available by next year. I’m telling you that now, in January, for two reasons. One, so that you can hold me accountable to complete a full novel in a year, and two, so that you have a whole year to forget that I made this promise. Haha!

Last year I read 45 novels, exceeding my Goodreads reading challenge by 5—I had a goal to read 40 books in 2019. This year, I’ve set a goal to read 45 books. I’m getting started by finishing re-reading the Harry Potter series which I began at the end of 2019. It’s fascinating to read these books as an author, paying attention to the little things like grammar and syntax and the ratio of compound sentences to simple sentences. The insight I’ve gained from this re-reading has definitely helped improve my own writing.

Thanks for sticking with me on this publishing journey. Your support means the world to me. I look forward to these coming months and to finally being able to hold my very own published book in my hands.
